About the trip

This 6-day journey takes you from the southern tip of South America to the remote landscapes of Antarctica. Departing from Ushuaia, you will navigate the Beagle Channel and sail toward Cape Horn before crossing the Drake Passage, one of the most legendary routes in the world.

Upon reaching Antarctica, you will step onto the continent and explore its unique environment. During your time there, you will visit a penguin colony and discover areas such as Fildes Bay, along with nearby research stations that offer insight into life and science in this extreme region.

This itinerary combines navigation and flight to create a more efficient and varied experience. After exploring Antarctica, you will fly back to Punta Arenas, avoiding a second crossing of the Drake Passage.

Designed for travelers seeking a focused yet immersive Antarctic experience, this journey offers a rare opportunity to reach one of the most remote places on Earth within a short timeframe.

Sailing to the End of the World

Your Antarctic journey begins in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in Argentina. From the pier, you will board your ship and start navigating the Beagle Channel, a historic waterway that marks the transition into the remote southern landscapes.

After a few hours of navigation, you will reach Puerto Williams, located in Chile’s Antarctic Province. This small and isolated town sits at the edge of the continent, offering a quiet introduction to the next stage of your expedition.

Gateway to the Drake Passage
Upon arrival, you will have time to explore Puerto Williams and take in its surroundings before preparing for the next day’s departure. From here, the journey continues south as you get ready to cross the Drake Passage and enter Antarctica.

At the Edge of the Continent

After sailing overnight across Nassau Bay, you will wake up near Cape Horn, one of the southernmost points of the American continent. This remote and windswept area marks a historic passage for explorers and navigators.

Depending on weather conditions, you may board a Zodiac to approach Cape Horn Island. Stepping onto this rugged land offers a rare opportunity to experience a place defined by isolation, strong winds, and striking natural scenery. Walking here provides a sense of the challenges faced by early expeditions in these waters.

Toward Antarctica
After the visit, you will return to the ship and begin the crossing of the Drake Passage. Leaving South America behind, this marks the transition into Antarctic waters. For the next stretch of the journey, the horizon will be open ocean, with the next landfall awaiting in Antarctica.

Across Antarctic Waters

Today, you will continue navigating the Drake Passage, surrounded by open ocean as you move closer to Antarctica. The vastness of the sea and sky creates a sense of scale and isolation that defines this part of the journey.

As you progress south, wildlife may begin to appear. From the deck, you may spot seabirds such as albatrosses and petrels gliding above the waves, and occasionally whales surfacing in the distance. With the support of expert guides on board, you will learn how to observe and understand these encounters.

Onboard Exploration
During the crossing, there will also be time to join lectures and presentations focused on Antarctica’s environment, wildlife, and exploration history. These sessions offer context for what lies ahead, helping you connect more deeply with the landscapes you are about to experience.

First Sight of the White Continent

As you approach the South Shetland Islands, the first icebergs begin to appear on the horizon, signaling your arrival in Antarctica. The landscape transforms into a vast expanse of ice and sea, where wildlife becomes part of the scenery.

From the ship, you may spot whales, seals, and seabirds moving through these cold waters, offering a first glimpse into the ecosystem of the region.

Landing Among Penguins
When conditions allow, you will board a Zodiac to reach the shore and visit a penguin colony. Walking across this remote terrain offers a rare opportunity to observe Antarctic wildlife in its natural habitat, surrounded by silence, ice, and open space.

With extended daylight during the Antarctic season, there will be time to fully take in the environment before returning to the ship and preparing for the next stage of your journey back to Chile.

From Antarctica to Chile

Today, you will leave the Antarctic continent behind with a final stop at Fildes Bay. This area offers a different perspective of Antarctica, where patches of ice-free ground begin to appear among the surrounding landscape.

From here, you will take a short walk to the airstrip, passing by nearby research stations that reflect the scientific presence in the region.

Crossing Back Over the Drake Passage
You will then board your flight back to Punta Arenas, flying over the Drake Passage and leaving the Antarctic landscapes behind.

Upon arrival in Chile, a transfer will take you to your hotel, where you will spend the night after completing this unique journey to one of the most remote places on Earth.

Farewell to Antarctica

After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to Punta Arenas airport for your onward flight.

Your expedition comes to an end after exploring one of the most remote and extraordinary regions on Earth. From the Beagle Channel to the Antarctic Peninsula, this journey brings together navigation, wildlife encounters, and landscapes that remain with you long after you return.

Whether this is the end of your trip or the beginning of a new one, there are always more corners of the world waiting to be explored.
