Today, escape the city and spend approximately 9 hours discovering Argentina’s rural heartland. Begin in San Antonio de Areco, one of the country’s most traditional gaucho towns. Stroll through its charming streets, visit local museums, and discover historic pulperías, traditional countryside stores that offer a glimpse into the region’s past and living heritage.

Continue into the vast Pampas, the endless plains that have long been home to Argentina’s gauchos. Many estancias in the Buenos Aires province continue to preserve these traditions, including El Ombú de Areco, a beautiful colonial-style working ranch established in 1880 where the spirit of gaucho culture remains very much alive.

At the estancia, enjoy a traditional Argentine asado before choosing how to experience the countryside. Saddle up for a horseback ride through the surrounding landscapes or explore the property by bike. Kick off your Patagonian adventure with a visit to Nibepo Aike, a traditional working estancia located within Los Glaciares National Park. Depart from your hotel by minivan and travel through the spectacular Patagonian landscapes towards this historic ranch, the only estancia in the area that continues to focus on sheep shearing and Hereford cattle breeding.

Upon arrival, warm up with a hot drink and a tasty snack in the traditional quincho, a rustic dining room. Then explore the shores of Lake Argentino, visit the sheep-shearing shed, and watch a demonstration of gaucho horsemanship. Depending on the day’s activities, you may have the chance to help milk cows, herd sheep, or discover the history of the ranch and its founders.

End the experience with a delicious grilled lamb lunch prepared over a traditional Patagonian fire before returning to El Calafate along the same scenic route.

Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel and a transfer to Puerto Bandera, located within Los Glaciares National Park. From here, board the boat and cruise through the Mayo Channel towards Toro Bay, where you will disembark for a guided hike through the Patagonian forest. Discover the unique vegetation of this area and meet El Abuelo (Grandpa), an ancient cherry tree with an impressive 10-foot-diameter trunk. Along the way, you will also have the chance to discover a hidden waterfall.

Return to the boat and continue towards Cerro Negro, or Black Hill. A short hike takes you to the base of the mountain, where you can admire the impressive Black Glacier. Enjoy some time in this remote setting before continuing by boat towards the legendary Perito Moreno Glacier.

Your day begins with a 40-minute drive from downtown Ushuaia to the national park. Accompanied by your guides, set out on a moderate 3-hour hike along the Costera Path, following the coastline through beautiful southern forests. Along the way, discover remnants of the Yamana people and learn about the natural and cultural heritage of this remote region.

Continue towards Lake Roca, a spectacular body of water stretching across the Argentina–Chile border. Take a break to enjoy lunch in a cosy dome surrounded by nature before continuing the adventure.

After a safety and paddling briefing, grab your oar and set off on a 1.5-hour canoe journey along the Lapataia River. Paddle through the peaceful landscapes of the park until reaching Lapataia Bay, where National Route 3 and the Pan-American Highway come to their dramatic end at the southernmost edge of the Americas.

After a full day immersed in nature, return to your hotel in Ushuaia and enjoy a well-deserved evening at leisure.
